We absolutely love dogs – have always had at least one since Russ and I have been married – 37 years! And the majority of our dogs have been black and white. Right now we are blessed with Sparky, our 12 year old doxie who was our 25th anniversary present from Russ’s folks. He’s a black and tan standard – tips the scales at 22 pounds and lives to eat!! His partner is Mort, a 5 year old dalmation/lab cross with a little great dane thrown in. Mort is the most loving dog we have ever had – he likes to have you wrap your arms around him and hug him tight. He has baby blue eyes, definitely a heartbreaker!! He weighs in at 104 pounds – biggest dog we’ve ever had. He likes water and has his own swimming pool and likes to float in our pond among the waterlilies!
My dad took this picture of Mort – he’s about a year and a half old in this picture. You can tell he’s one happy dog – loves to ride in my husband’s blue truck – that means weekend and fun out in the field! He learned well from Missy – she taught him how to watch over everything and keep everyone in their place.
Dogs we have loved…………this is Missy, our border collie/rotweiller cross. We had her thirteen years. She took her border collie duties very seriously. Liked to herd me and the other dogs and cats. She really needed a flock of sheep!! When Mort was a puppy, she would run him on the patio everytime a car pulled in the driveway. Now, he just runs there on his own – she trained him well. She also trained all the ferrel cats to run into the “cat house” when ever someone pulled in. Only Missy could train a cat to do something. One day she thought Kelso wasn’t moving fast enough, so she picked him up and put him in the ivy to get him out of the driveway.
